Chinese Drones Are NOT The Only Chinese Product You Should Be Worried About by Art FlaterDo you have a router that enables you to be hacked? Odds are nearly 70% the answer is yes.

Chinese TP Link Routers Cause Cybersecurity Problems.

TP Link Routers are the most popular router product in the USA, with 65% market share.

Central Office Systems never sells Chinese made tech. Not cameras, not routers, not switches and not door access equipment. NONE.

We know of one company that was mandated by the DOD to remove all their 1-year-old Chinese cameras, in order to remain a DOD contractor.

So now, Chinese made TP Link routers are now in the news because of cyberhacking concerns.

The main threat for TP Link routers is that you may not have changed your default password. The Chinese government has used something called password spraying attempts to find TP Link routers and has hacked into computers where the router password is still the default password out of the box.

A secondary threat is if you have not turned on the firewall and wifi encryption, which usually are on by default. Hackers could theoretically listen in on your devices.

TP Link Routers have a better market share than Apple has in phones.

What should you do if you have one of these routers?

Make sure your password is long and secure. Not the default. Make sure the encryption and firewall is ON (that is the default, but check)

Once you have done this:

Call Central Office Systems. 262 228 9966

A new router is about $200-300 if you are paranoid about China. I am.

We will fix your router security, and while we are at it, check your other IT security vulnerabilities. In this case, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
